Privacy policy

What we collect, why we collect it, and what you can make us do about it.

Last updated 13 September 2026

This policy explains how CarMonthly handles personal information under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA). It applies to this website and to enquiries you send us through it.

What we collect

This site does not run analytics, does not set advertising cookies and embeds no third-party content. Information reaches us only when you choose to send it:

  • When you apply, we receive your name, your mobile number, your email address if you give one, the car you are applying for, and your answers about which documents you already have. While you are still filling the form in, your answers are saved in your own browser so that being interrupted does not cost you the work. That copy sits on your device, and saving it sends nothing to us.
  • When you send us documents through a link we gave you, we receive the files you upload: typically your identity document, driver's licence, payslips, bank statements and proof of address. They pass straight through to the group's administration system. This website keeps no copy of them.
  • When you message us on WhatsApp, we receive your WhatsApp display name, your mobile number and whatever you write to us. WhatsApp itself is operated by Meta and handles that message under its own terms, not ours.
  • When you email or phone us, we receive whatever you provide: typically a name, contact details and the car you are asking about.
  • Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard request data such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for security and to keep the site running. We do not use these to build a profile of you.

We do not buy contact lists and we do not add you to a mailing list because you enquired. Under POPIA, marketing to you requires your consent, and an enquiry is not consent.

Why we use it

  • To answer your enquiry and tell you whether a car is still available.
  • To assess an application you choose to make, and to prepare an agreement.
  • To meet obligations the law places on us, including record keeping.

Who we share it with

CarMonthly is part of the Drive OS group and shares its fleet, administration and staff with FutureDrive and DriveDiva, so your enquiry is handled by that same team. Beyond that we share personal information only where it is necessary to deliver the service you asked for, for example with an insurer, a tracking provider or a licensing authority, or where the law requires it.

We do not sell your personal information. There is no circumstance in which we would.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not become applications are kept only as long as they are useful for answering you and are then removed. Where an agreement is signed, records are kept for the period the law requires for financial and vehicle records, and no longer than that without a reason we can explain to you.

Documents you upload form part of your application record and are kept and removed with it. This website never holds them: it passes them to the administration system and keeps no copy of its own.

Your rights

Under POPIA you may, at any time and at no cost:

  • Ask what personal information we hold about you.
  • Ask us to correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
  • Ask us to delete information we no longer have a reason to keep.
  • Object to us using your information for direct marketing.
  • Complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa if you believe we have handled your information unlawfully.

To exercise any of these, email admin@futuredrive.co.za. We will respond within a reasonable period and will tell you what we have done.

Security

This site is served over HTTPS with a strict content security policy, and it holds no database of its own. Enquiry records live in the group's administration system, which is access-controlled and restricted to staff who need it.

Changes to this policy

When this site changes in a way that affects what we collect, this page is updated in the same release and the date at the top changes with it.
